MarĂa Goeppert Mayer đź‘©‍đź’»

Physicist

Maria Goeppert Mayer was born in Germany in 1906. She taught at the University of Chicago for free, although it wasn't fair, and worked at Argonne National Laboratory, she was paid half of what she deserved even though she worked the same as her co-workers or even longer hours, but thanks to these extra hours she managed to develop the mathematical calculation that demonstrated the nuclear layer model. And although for a long time his work was not appreciated as it should be, in 1963 he won the Nobel Prize in Physics for the nuclear layer model, becoming the second woman to win this Nobel Prize.

"Math is starting to look more and more like solving a puzzle.

So does physics, but these are puzzles created by nature, not by the mind of humans."
